Topic: The Haibun & its Variations:  Narrative and Imagery in a Two Part Poem
The haibun, a compact Japanese linked form invented by Matsuo Basho in the 17th century, is best exemplified in The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Other Travel Sketches. In a haibun, a narrative prose poem alternates with a more imagistic and lyrical haiku, in order to express our relationship with the natural world and our transitory journey through it.  Take the journey with us.

Bring 15 or more copies (2 page limit) of a poem you want critiqued.  *$5 – $10 donation appreciated.

This project is partially supported by grants from: Poets & Writers, the Illinois Arts Council and The MacArthur Fund for Arts and Culture at the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.
