Heavy Winter Coat by Cody Lumpkin
It hangs on a rack, a depressed roommate
who watches everything and judges me.
After a couple of winters, it’s so out of style.
All those zippered pockets I could never fill.
With money spent on other things, I dress
myself in this suitable warmth. My hands
discover lost gloves, a five dollar bill, receipts
to things I thought would make me happy.
